AKKI4-X

One Platform.
Endless Possibilities

A future-ready platform built on the proven DNA of the AKKI4-RT

The AKKI4-X is an exploration of what the next generation could become. Developed from the proven engineering principles behind our AKKI4-RT, the AKKI4-X reimagines the hardware platform with one goal in mind:

‘Creating a flexible, scalable foundation capable of serving industries beyond traditional machine guidance.

Inspired to go Further

To challenge our current AKKI4-RT hardware design, we looked beyond our traditional industries and drew inspiration from engineering practices found in adjacent sectors, including the defense market, where robustness, modularity and mission adaptability are fundamental design principles.

This broader perspective encouraged us to rethink how a GNSS hardware platform could be engineered without being constrained by a single application or market.

Improved Electrical Robustness

‘At MGB-Tech, we combine over 25 years of engineering excellence with cutting-edge design expertise to create a custom electronic hardware platform that thrives in the harshest environments.

Through meticulous component selection and the implementation of industry-leading topologies, we deliver uncompromising performance, reliability, and durability.’

– Jonas De Schoenmacker, Lead Electronical Engineer at MGB-Tech

Inspired by the design principles of the MIL-STD-1275D, the AKKI4-X features an improved robust power architecture that ensures reliable operation in demanding environments. This enhanced design provides reliable protection against supply voltage fluctuations, transients, surges and other electrical disturbances commonly encountered on heavy mobile equipment.

This robustness ensures stable and continuous operation in industrial applications. For example, the input power stage can handle load dump events of 100V (66V above maximum operational voltage) on the power leads for almost 0.5 seconds without resetting or compromising the protected load.

Flexible Connector Integration

Our AKKI4-X housing design significantly optimizes our engineering workflow by allowing us to efficiently adapt connections to match diverse industrial interfaces.

This adaptive layout drastically accelerates client-specific integration and establishes a highly efficient design base for future product versions.’

– Geert Booghmans, Lead Mechanical Engineer

Industrial applications rarely share the same interface requirements. The AKKI4-X concept introduces a more flexible connector architecture, enabling a faster adaptation to customer-specific requirements while reducing development time for future product generations.

Optimized Thermal Coupling

Efficient thermal management is fundamental to reliable operation in demanding environments. The AKKI4-X features an optimized thermal interface between the printed circuit board (PCB) and the enclosure, enhancing the cooling performance.

Flexible GNSS Integration

At the core of the AKKI4-RT concept lies the integration of advanced GNSS technology from our thrusted technology partner, Septentrio. By leveraging their industry-leading GNSS expertise, our engineering efforts can focus on creating a robust, adaptable hardware platform that delivers application-specific value through mechanical, electrical and system-level innovation.

While the AKKI4-X was designed using the latest GNSS module available at the time of development, which was Septentrio’s AsteRx-m3 PRO+ GNSS module, this product concept can easily integrate the latest-generation such as Septentrio’s mosaic-G5 P8 or other GNSS modules to meet specific application requirements.
